26.7.2020 ONSC: Taliban killed 46 civilians in a week
The Office of the National Security Council said on Saturday that at least
46 civilians got killed and 93 more got wounded in the Taliban attacks in
the past week.

According to the ONSC spokesman, Javed Faisal, the insurgents staged more
than 400 attacks in this period. “Violence has not decreased! Taliban
killed 46 civilians and wounded 93 in 401 terrorist activities in just one
week. Peace requires commitment and will, which aren’t visible in the
actions of the Taliban”, he tweeted.

The Taliban have not commented in this regard.

Meanwhile, Zalmay Khalilzad, the US special representative for Afghanistan
reconciliation, has expressed concerns over surging violence in
Afghanistan. He was speaking at a virtual talk on “Afghanistan’s Peaceful
fitire: Support from Central Asia” along with Ambassador of Afghanistan to
the U.S. Roya Rahmani, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the U.S. Javlon Vakhabov
and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the U.S. Erzhan Kazykhanov. The event was
organized by U.S. Institute of Peace on Friday

Khalilzad said violence and civilian casualties in Afghanistan have
reduced in comparison to the past year.
